Morocco Off-Road Tours: Discover the Wild Side of the Desert
If you’re searching for a real adventure on two wheels, Morocco off-road tours might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Whether you ride for the thrill, the solitude, or the landscape, Morocco’s trails deliver it all — from endless dunes and rocky plateaus to palm oases and wild mountain passes. And the best part? It’s all out there, just waiting for riders like you who crave a bit of dust and freedom.
Why Morocco is a Dream for Off-Road Riders
What makes Morocco so special for off-road motorbike lovers isn’t just the terrain (though let’s be honest, it’s unreal). It’s the feeling of riding through ancient caravan paths, through forgotten Berber villages, across dry riverbeds, and up into the peaks of the Atlas Mountains — all in the same trip. You don’t just ride through Morocco. You live it.
Here’s what makes these tours stand out:
- Incredible variety of terrain: sand dunes, mountain passes, gorges, rocky valleys, and dry lakes.
- Ideal climate most of the year, especially from October to May.
- Local hospitality that’s impossible not to love — mint tea, tagines, and a warm smile wherever you stop.
- No boring bits – every day brings a different challenge and a new view.
Whether you’re here for just a few days or ready for a 10-day expedition, the trails are as wild or technical as you want them to be.
What to Expect on Our Morocco Off-Road Tours
At Sahara Moto Tours, we run guided off-road trips across Morocco, mainly with KTM 450 bikes, built to handle anything this country throws at you. Here’s a little idea of what your adventure could look like:
🏍️ Day Rides or Full Expeditions
You can go for a short desert loop around Merzouga or Zagora, or tackle a multi-day ride from Ouarzazate all the way to Erg Chebbi, hitting off-the-map spots like Ouzina, Ramlia, and Mharech along the way.
🧭 GPS or Guided
We offer both fully guided tours and GPS-assisted rides if you prefer riding solo but with backup. No pressure — it’s your trip, your rules.
🛠️ Full Support
Mechanical assistance, luggage transport, accommodation — all sorted. We ride with local experts who know the desert inside-out, and we don’t mess around when it comes to safety.
Best Routes for Morocco Off-Road Tours
Some areas are simply off-road heaven. These are our top picks:
- Merzouga Dunes (Erg Chebbi) – The classic Sahara experience. Perfect for learning or testing your sand riding skills.
- Dades and Todra Gorges – Combine twisty asphalt with rugged off-road passes into the Atlas.
- Ouzina & Ramlia Loop – Pure adventure, very remote, with riverbeds and technical stretches.
- Lac Maider to Mhamid – Desert emptiness, fossil rocks, wide open plains, and old military tracks.
Each route is different in terms of difficulty, and we’ll always adjust based on your skill level — from beginner-friendly to Dakar-style.
Is It for Everyone?
Not gonna lie — these are proper off-road rides. That means:
- You should be comfortable on a dirt bike (preferably with some experience in sand or rocks).
- Being physically fit helps a lot, especially in hotter months.
- No need to be a pro — we guide you step by step and adapt the route depending on your pace.
We’ve had riders from 20 to 65+ years old come ride with us. As long as you love bikes and dirt, you’re welcome.
When to Go?
Honestly, October to April is the best time for Morocco off-road tours. The summer gets way too hot, especially near the dunes. Spring rides are epic — blooming valleys in the Atlas, cool air in the desert, and no crowds.
Gear and Bikes: What You’ll Need
We’ll hook you up with a KTM 450 EXC, maintained after every ride. You can bring your own riding gear, or rent a full set from us (helmet, boots, armor, etc.).
Bring this at minimum:
- Camelback (hydration is key)
- Light layers and sun protection
- Action camera if you wanna relive the ride
Why Ride With Sahara Moto Tours?
We’re based in Morocco, and we actually ride the trails ourselves. This isn’t some copy-paste agency. You deal directly with locals who know the desert better than anyone — and love sharing it with you. Riders come back not just for the trip, but for the family-style vibe and freedom we offer.

Tips Before You Come
Here are a few things most people don’t realize until they’re already here:
- Riding sand is fun, but lower your tire pressure and don’t fight the bike.
- Always carry cash – not everywhere takes cards in the desert.
- You don’t need to speak Arabic — a smile and “shukran” (thank you) go a long way.
- Don’t overpack — you’ll mostly be in riding gear all day.
