Itinerary
Day 1 – Ouarzazate → Foum Zguid
Depart Ouarzazate heading southeast through the striking Anti-Atlas mountains and remote villages. Pass through Tazenakht, known for Berber rugs, then continue toward Foum Zguid, a desert town on the edge of the Sahara. The ride includes winding roads, desert plateaus, and the first taste of off-road. Overnight in a desert auberge.
Day 2 – Foum Zguid → Chegaga Dunes
A full day of off-road riding! Cross the dry salt lake of Iriki, endless stone plains, and deep desert wilderness on Dakar rally-style tracks. Arrive at the towering Erg Chegaga dunes, where golden sand stretches for miles. Enjoy a peaceful evening in a nomadic-style desert camp, with sunset views and traditional Berber music under the stars.
Day 3 – Chegaga → Mhamid → Zagora
Ride through soft dunes and oueds (dry riverbeds) to reach Mhamid, the last town before the desert. Follow the Draa Valley, lined with palm groves and ancient ksour, heading north to Zagora. Visit the famous “Timbuktu 52 Days” sign, and overnight in a beautiful kasbah-style guesthouse.
Day 4 – Zagora → Agdz → Ouarzazate
Cruise back along the scenic Draa Valley, stopping at villages and ksour like Agdz and the stunning Kasbah Tamnougalt. Return to Ouarzazate by afternoon, ending your desert escape with rich memories of dunes, dust, and desert skies.
