Day 2: Marrakech – Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Ride over the stunning Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) through the High Atlas Mountains. Visit the remote Telouet Kasbah, once a stronghold of the Glaoui family. Continue along the scenic Ounila Valley to reach the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, then arrive in Ouarzazate, the desert’s cinematic gateway.
Day 3: Ouarzazate – Foum Zguid (via Taznakht)
Today’s route heads southeast, stopping in Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets. Ride through dramatic barren plateaus, reaching the last frontier town before the Sahara: Foum Zguid, perched on the edge of civilization. Get ready for the real desert tomorrow.
Day 4: Foum Zguid – Lake Iriki – Erg Chegaga (Off-Road Adventure)
A full day of off-road desert riding begins. Cross dry lake beds, rocky plains, and fossil fields before reaching the towering, remote dunes of Erg Chegaga — Morocco’s wildest desert region. Experience total isolation, ride across wind-sculpted sandscapes, and spend the night in a traditional nomad-style desert camp under an ocean of stars.
Day 5: Erg Chegaga – M’hamid – Zagora
After sunrise over the dunes, ride out of the sands toward M’hamid, the last town before the Algerian border. Follow the lush Draa Valley north, passing fortified villages and ancient kasbahs on the way to Zagora, a key oasis town and former caravan stop.
Day 6: Zagora – Nkob – Tazzarine – Alnif – Merzouga
This is a long but spectacular day. Ride through the Jbel Saghro mountain range, pass the dramatic oases of Nkob and Tazzarine, and cross the lunar landscape around Alnif before reaching Merzouga, gateway to the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes. Optional sunset camel ride or quad biking available.
Day 7: Full Day in Merzouga Desert (Exploration & Relaxation)
Take a rest from long-distance riding. Explore the Merzouga area by bike or 4×4 — visit Khamlia village (famous for Gnawa music), the fossil mines, and desert nomads. You can also choose to relax at your hotel or in the dunes. Optional sandboarding or camel trek at sunset.
Day 8: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Leave the sand behind and ride through the date palms of Erfoud, then up to the towering Todra Gorges, a mecca for climbers. Enjoy the cool air and dramatic canyon views before continuing to the Dades Valley, famous for its “monkey fingers” rock formations and winding roads — one of the most thrilling rides in Morocco.
Day 9: Dades – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate
Cruise through the fragrant Valley of Roses, with its blooming fields and traditional rose distilleries (seasonal). Pass through Skoura’s palm groves, where you can visit Kasbah Amridil, and return to Ouarzazate for a relaxing evening and visit to the Atlas Film Studios, if desired.
